  • Cindy Deubler sent a note.  "Just wanted to let you know Kimi finished her MX today at the Oriole trial.  I thought the courses were pretty tough, but she was very good and QQ.  This is her 4th QQ towards her MACH!
  • 12/06/10  Here's the news from the past weekend.  From Dana Pierce - "Roxy got her AXJ on Friday with a blazing fast 1st place finish. Yesterday, she got her Open Standard title, with another 1st place, clean run. She really finished out 2010 with a bang! Can't wait for next year!"  Bonnie Frank called on her way home from the same trial to report Cosi finished his AXJ with a first place run!  Heather Ortega was also there - "I'm happy to report that Trax's official name is now RyLadd Makin' Trax AX OAJ OF! He got his AX on Saturday and took 1st place! We are really becoming in sync with each other! What a wonderful way to end the year!"  A busy and very successful weekend for Riot children!           Cosi and trax       Trax and Cosi at the trial.

  • 11/29/10  News from up and down the east coast.  Karen Gaydos and her crew were in NJ.  "Great weekend for my 12 inch RyLadd shelties. Matthew got his MACH II on Saturday. He is now MACH II RyLadd Red Alert. On Sunday he got QQ#1 toward his next MACH. Guilty had a fabulous EX Std run and took 2nd place. Her running dog walk was perfect just like her Daddy's (Riot)."  Also in NJ were Dana Pierce with Roxy.  "Roxy has been on fire in the rings the last few weeks.  You would be so proud of her.  We started last month entering Fast again and she took a 1st place in Open Fast at the SSCGB trial.  At Dreampark, she has really been doing awesome.  Two weeks ago, she got her first Open Std leg with a blazing fast and clean 1st place finish, her time was a full 20 seconds under the 2nd place dog.  This weekend, on Friday, she was the fastest dog in the entire 12" Exc JWW class, earning her 2nd Q for her AXJ.  We only had a small refusal on Sat in JWW, but it was my fault, not hers.  She also Q'd in Open Std yesterday, only needing one more for her title there.  She nailed all of her contacts and leadouts for the whole weekend, which is a first!                                                                                          Barb Plaiss and her Riot daughter Izzy have been busy down south. "Just wanted to let you know that Izzy has her NA. She finished with a second and a first. We didn't do so well in open jumpers the first day, mom is too slow, had a straight tunnel, sharp turn into weaves. But the next two days we received two legs with first place both times.(28 seconds on, 44 second course!!).  Her first time in open standard was beautiful but dropped bar. Mom's fault again.  What a weekend. We got one second and three first out of 6 runs. Her speed is great. The second was because she jumped over the table! - that was 5 points!"    Lexi Hope and Gossip and Becky Grant and Bunni were on a team together in USDAA and got their team Q.  Lexi and Hoax were on another team that also Q'd! Sorry I don't have any details.     CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL!!!!
  • It was a big QQ weekend for the RyLadd Shelties!  From Karen Gaydos "Competed at Dream Park this weekend. Riot QQ on Sunday with 2 first places. QQ#6 toward MACH II. Guilty had a great JWW run on Sunday with a 2nd place and her MXJ. And Matthew getting soooo close to MACH II!"  Becky Grant called to say Bunni picked up her second QQ!  They traveled to West Virginia to the Mountaineer Kennel club trial and had a wonderful time.  Congrats to all.  Keep the good news coming!

  • Misty (Flewelling) Riddle's sister who lives in California sent me a note to include here.  "Hello Gran Mary: Both Mommy and I always read the "Latest News" about Ryladd Kids doing so well in the shows.  Please note that I, Misty Flewelling, would like to be included in those journals.  Here's the thing - I, too, have been doing the agility training, why, just last week I had my Daddy jumping over furniture and Mommy run the course on our back lawn - You can bet that there were many lawn obstacles to maneuver around  - Mommy and Gardner (Kyle) did very well - they didn't miss a one. Daddy had a near miss leaping over a chair, he did it almost flawlessly - it's a pretty good thing as I was in the chair.  So, you see - My training is coming along very well - Both parents will be show quality in no time. Brother Indy has been helping me coach those two."  LOL - Keep up the good work Misty!
  • Becky Grant sends the following news.   "The Grant's Shelties had fun at ASCA on Saturday.  Willie Grant competed in Open Regular, qualified, and won his class in one run, and came in second in the other run.  (Yes, they have contacts in Regular in ASCA, he did them all).  Willie also won his class in one round of open jumpers.  Bunni completed two open jumpers legs, wining her class in one run, and coming in 2nd place in the other.  Nikki competed in Novice jumpers and won her class and qualified in both jumpers runs."

  • The first half of November has been a good one for RyLadd Shelties and QQ's!  2 weeks ago Jordan (Kolster) was near perfect at a 3 day event.  She QQ'ed Friday and Saturday and came up one dropped bar (all together now.....uuurrrgggg!!!!) short of a QQ on Sunday.  Gotcha (Kolster) picked up another QQ at the same trial.   This past weekend Riot (Gaydos) picked up another QQ and Matthew (Gaydos) picked up #!9 towards his MACH2!  Farther south, Kelleigh  (Kolster) and Gotcha (Kolster) each earned another QQ.  Becky Grant and her dogs were at an ASCA trial with great success for everyone.  I will share details when I get them.  Way to go everyone!!!!
  • 10/31/10 From Bonnie Frank "Cosi and I went to the Dauphin trial in Dillsburg (in the dirt!) on Halloween weekend.  There were two difficult standard courses, and even though we didn't Q, I felt we ran really well.  The one course was very technical; it was a great challenge to us, and Cosi and I came through like champs.  It was very exciting.
We got our second leg in Excellent A Jumpers on Sunday (yea!) and the second leg in Excellent B FAST.  We got 79 points in the FAST class--what fun.  We finished 1st in both of our Q's."
  • Here's some news from Barb Plaiss about her Riot daughter, Izzy. "I wanted to let you know that Izzy finished her Rally Advance title last weekend.  This weekend Izzy finished her novice jumpers title. She also got one leg towards her Standard title. She has had great times- 21 seconds on a 45 second course. Did 40 in standard on a  66 course.  This comes to 3 first and a second place. We have only been out two weekends so I think it is pretty good. The little stinker kept dropping a bar in standard. I have never had a dog that dropped bars. Always a new thing to learn. She had her first time in Open jumpers but got a little upset over the train that decided to run out side the door as she went in the ring. I am so proud of her."
  • 10/22/10  Becky Grant sent the following round up of her show season to date.  "At Sheltie Club, Willie completed his Novice Fast Preferred title, he also completed his Open Jumpers Preferred title.  Last weekend at Gloucester,  Bunni Qd 4 ut of 5 runs, getting her first Double Q and her first Excellent fast leg (with a second place!).  Willie got two Ex A Jumpers Preferred legs, both were 1st places.  At the DGOTC UKC trial, both Willie and Bunni had one perfect run each in AGII.  Willie qualified in all but one run and picked up 12 points towards his ACH,, Bunni qualified in all six of her runs and picked up 18 points towards her ACH.  All of these runs were placements, but I don't remember the details."
  • Karen Gaydos took Riot and Matthew to the USDAA Nationals down in Kentucky this past week.  Karen writes the following:
"Great trip to KY for USDAA Nationals.  Riot took Top Overall Individual in the 16 inch class. He placed 8th in Team Std and 7th in Snooker. He also placed 1st in Steeplechase quarter finals. Matthew also did a great job placing 2nd in Team Snooker. My little 9 year old can still keep up with those young dogs. He got a beautiful medallion. I am so proud of my boys!"
  • Becky Grant is very excited about Bunni getting her first QQ this past weekend!
  • Joyce Burgess writes:  "We finally did it!  Got our MACH on 10-3-10.  Wanted you to know".  Here is a photo of MACH Gigi:                                                                                                  mach gigi
  • This past weekend (10/3 and 4) found RyLadd Shelties going north with this exciting news from Bonnie Frank.  Cosi and I went the Lancaster Kennel Club trial at the new indoor soccer place in Palmyra (near Hershey).  The footing is great; it's the same surface that we train on weekly.  We had GREAT runs all weekend (FAST, std, and jww), but Sunday's Excellent B Standard was a highlight.  We Q'd and, to my surprise, took first in the 16" class.  Our jumpers course was a twisty, turney course with 2 serpentines and 2 pinwheels.  We ran very well, but dropped two bars.  Oh, well.  We'll get it next time.  We went home with our first MACH points (48) and a new toy (a turtle).  F.U.N.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      trax and ribbon  Meanwhile, Heather Ortega and Trax  headed south with great success.  "Trax  had a great weekend! He finished his Open Fast title on Sunday! He just had his first Open fast runs last week and  therefore Q’d in 3 out of 4 tries! We ran the course exactly how we wanted to and he worked very well away from  me. After the run, the judge came up and said “You got your Q but the timer malfunctioned so you get to run it again for time.” So Trax was beyond thrilled, yet slightly confused as to why he got to run the course again just a few minutes later. Nonetheless he ran the course again perfectly and in 16.85 seconds! I can’t imagine how much faster he’ll be once we get him down to jumping 16”!  His other runs were absolutely beautiful but Mommy is still making boo boos. He’s been such a good boy though and did everything I asked of him. I had so many people including the judge come up to me this weekend and tell me how amazing Trax is. I’m quite the proud Mommy!
  • Patty Kimble writes:  "Kori got some exciting news! They (NADAC) have awards now for the top 10 number of runs in the year that are over 100 dri and Kori got 9th place with 34 runs!  I was so surprised!
  • Lexi sent this a few weeks back......"At Va Ruff Riders in June, Hoax (Hope) earned his Agility Dog title after getting that much needed snooker leg with a second place.  At Touch  and Go  in Aug, Gossip (Hope) earned both her P2 standard finishing with all 1st places and also got her P2 jumpers title finishing with a First place. She also got first place in pairs relay. All on Sat.   We just need 1 gamble leg to finish P2 Title  Happy Lexi!!!  At Touch and Go Hoax, now in Advanced got his first adv. gamblers leg and his second Adv jumpers leg on Sat. On Sunday somehow we managed to get his advanced snookers leg. Now we just need standard legs and a pairs leg."
  • 9/18 and 19  Karen writes "Another successful weekend for my boys.  Both Riot (Gaydos) and Matthew (Gaydos) had a 75% weekend.  Riot placed first in all his runs and gained 52 MACH points in Standard each day!  Matthew took a 3rd and 2 second places!  Way to go guys.  Matthewis just 3 QQ's away from MACH 2.
  • 9/11/10  Cosi continues his winning ways...Bonnie Frank writes "Cosi and I went to the TBAC trial at Dream Park.  I had high hopes for the weekend because I love the footing there.  Cosi loves the dirt!  We were successful on Saturday, getting our third Excellent A leg in Standard. The club had a jump wing out for exhibitors with new titles to decorate.  To commemorate Cosi's AX title, I wrote his name on the jump.  Too fun.  Next time I walk a course at at TBAC trial, I'll look for that wing jump and smile."
  • 9/10/10  Here is the latest from the agility rings...... Cindy Deubler writes that Kimi finished her MXJ at Berks agility trial.  Yea!  She is also closing in on her MX and collecting those QQ's for Nationals.  Bonnie Frank writes this about Cosi's weekend at the same event.
"Cosi and I had a blast at the Berks trial on Labor Day Weekend.  On Friday we ran in FAST, std, and jumpers.  We were very close, but no Q's.  Then on Saturday we "double Q'd" in both standard and jumpers, taking first place in Excellent A on both runs.  In standard, he beat the second place dog by 9 seconds!  In jumpers Riot beat him by 1.5 seconds!  Awesome.
That brings him to two legs in Excellent A Standard and one leg in Excellent A jumpers. Maybe at TBAC this coming weekend in NJ (in the dirt) we can get another standard leg.  (keep your paws crossed)
Then on Sunday we got our final, third leg in Excellent A FAST, earning our title.  We took second place; the first place dog beat us by only .3 of a second!  Jack got video of the run; I'll have it on YouTube.com ASAP.  Our run in standard wasn't so hot, so I was determined to finish with a good run in jumpers, get our connection back.  And, boy, did we!!  We had a fabulous jumpers run with a time in the low 20's.  He dropped one bar near the end, but I didn't care.  We ran *together* and had blast.  He's my love and my joy."                                  Riot(Gaydos)  had a 4Q weekend with 2Q's both Saturday and Sunday!  I will share all the details when I get them from Karen.
  • 8/7/10  Jordan (Kolster) finished her MACH today!  Congratulations to her and her excited owner/handler Susan!  Just to emphasize the point she went on to 2Q the next day as well!!!!  At the same show, Kelleigh (Kolster) finished her XF.  Here from Kara,
"Kelleigh had a fantastic day at the Norwegian Elkhound Club agility trial in Fredericksburg on Sunday.  She started the day by winning the Excellent A 12" FAST class to earn her XF title.  In this class, you must complete a distance handling sequence ("Send") and earn a minimum 60 points out of a possible 80 within 35 seconds to qualify...Kelleigh completed the Send and earned all 80 points in only 25 seconds!!  Kelleigh was also successful in Excellent B JWW and took first place in the very competitive 12" class.  Her only fault all day was in Standard and was completely my fault!  Not wanting to let the girls have all the fun, Gotcha also qualified in Excellent B JWW 16" for his 3rd MXJ leg.  Kelleigh's titles as of 8/8/2010: CH RyLadd Take Note CDX HT TD RAE MX MXJ XF VCX! Not to be outdone, Nikki (Grant) earned her third leg in Novice Jumpers to finish her NAJ!  Congratulations to all.
  • 7/18/10  Debbie Stewart writes:  "Dream finished her RE this weekend in Murfreesboro, TN with a 3rd place and then earned a bonus leg with another third place.  She got 2 first places for her first 2 legs.  I'm very proud of my girl!"  So are we!
  • 7/11/10  It is now MACH Riot!!!!  Riot (Gaydos) finished today with a 1st place in Standard to boot.  This is his first day of competition since his surgery and it appears that he is back in great form.  Congratulations Karen and Riot!  Matthew(Gaydos) posted number 16 2Q towards his MACH 2 today.  On Friday Matthew competed in team competition at a USDAA Trial.  Matthew's team was 4th overall and Matthew was 3 rd overall (all jump heights).  He had a great day qualifying in all his runs and taking 1st or second in each!  Matthew and Riot are now both qualified for the USDAA Nationals.  What a weekend for Karen!
  • It has been a while since I updated the latest news...sorry for the break.  There has been a lot happening in the month of June for the RyLadd Shelties...                                                                                                                                                                               In the conformation ring Riddle (RyLadd Guessing Game) has started her show career with a bang!  Her first weekend out she had a 2 point win (major broke by 1 bitch!?:-(.  The next weekend she won a 3 point major!!!!. Then this past weekend she took another 2 point win.  7 points and a major in just 3 weekends!   Riddle is being shown by Julie Desy of Ilemist Presentation.  Not to be left out, Gotcha and Kara hit the conformation ring for one weekend and Gotcha was WD for another point! That brings their total to 5 points owner handled!!!!                                                                                                                                                                          From  the agility rings....... Bunni (Grant) has been tearing up the rings.  Since she decided the table was not such a bad exercise she has finished numerous titles.  Here team partner Becky tells about all her activity in the USDAA rings...."Bunni finished her P2S, P2AD, with first places in Standard both days; PIIIR (with a first place, teamed with Willow), and PIIIJ titles.  She also got her first PIII Gamblers leg, a Performance Speed Jumping leg (and won 12.00 for second place today), and a Performance Grand Prix leg."   Heather Ortega wrote to let me know that on June 26th "Trax got his first Excellent Standard leg on Saturday and placed first! His course time was 47.31 and boy was he flying! We can’t wait to compete again"   And this from Pat Moloney-Harmon "We are doing well and Beckham is just coming together so well.  He is an absolute joy.  I finally got my act together to list his titles as of today.  So, he is                                            RyLadd Bend It Like Beckham, ANN, VerO, OGC, S-OJC, EAC, O-TG-E, O-WV-E, S-TN-E.
    So what that means -
AAN - is All Around Novice - that means he has his superior titles at the Novice level in every class that NADAC offers - Regular, Jumpers, Chances, Touch & Go, Weavers, Tunnelers, and Hoopers.  VerO means that he has his basic open titles in every class.   He also has his superior titles in everything open except for chances and hoopers but I did not list those if he has an elite title in that class.  His EAC is his elite Regular title, O-TG-E is his outstanding elite touch and go, O-WV-E is his outstanding elite weavers title (he is a weavin' fool), and S-TN-E is his superior elite tunnelers title.  I am so proud of my little dude - as you know he is not yet three yet (almost though :-) ).    Whew!  I am tired just typing it....imagine running it!

WD from Open Sable class for 2 points, Judge Carol White-Moser.
Not to be left out Bunni (Grant) continues in her winning ways.  Becky writes Bunni finished her Open Fast title on  Saturday and got her first Excellent Standard leg this weekend....yes, that does include a table!  Since the first of this year, in addtion to her AKC titles  Bunni has completed the following: USDAA:  Perfomance Gamblers II (PG2), Perfomance 1 Standard (PS1) and Perfomance 1 Agility Dog (PD1).  NADAC: Novice  Chances 1 (NCC), Novice Versitility,  and  UKC:  UAGII.  Way to go  Becky and Bunni!!

For those who know the saga of Bunni's table issues, this is quite an accomplishment. Becky has worked very hard retraining the tablet and the proof is in the title!  Nikki (Grant) was first in Novice Standard for her 2nd leg. Saturday Jordan (Kolster) flew to her 15th 2Q towards her MACH. Susan and Jordan are on their way to the AKC Agility Nationals in 2 weeks!  On Sunday the success continued with Gossip (Hope) finishing her AXJ title with a first place!  Nikki (Grant) finished her NA for her first AKC title!  Congratulations to everyone.  This is just the beginning of the season and things are off to a great start!

  • 01/17/10  Gotcha and Kara Kolster went Winners Dog and Best of Winners for his first 2 points towards his breed championship.  The show was the Chesapeake Kennel Club of Maryland and the Judge was Mrs. Terry Depietro.  Gotcha was beautifully presented by his owner/handler Kara.  As Gotcha's co owner I could not be prouder of the these two!  We will have pictures to share very soon.
  • 01/16/10  At the Greater Fredericksburg Kennel Club obedience trial today, Zing and Sally Cecil won a run off to take first place in Utility B for 10 points.  This win brings Zing up to 74 points towards her Obedience Trial Championship.

  • 01/04/2010  Well to start the new year off we have this from Pat Moloney-Harmon about Beckham:
We spent the NY weekend at the TNT Canines NY trial in Dillsburg PA - we go every year and it is always a lot of fun.  There were 20 runs over 4 days and Beckham qualified in 15 of them.  He finally got his novice superior in Chances which gave him his Triple Novice Superior (Superiors in Regular, Jumpers, and Chances) and his Novice Superior Versatility (Superiors in the 3 already mentioned plus superiors in Tunnelers, Weavers, and Touch and Go).  He also got his Elite Tunnelers title.
He is really coming along - he is very focused and he is a very honest dog.  He is just a joy to run and to live with!!!                                 What a wonderful beginning to the year!
